Model UN - Security Council Simulation
Model United Nations Security Council (MUN SC) is a simulation of the real United Nations SC committee. Students are assigned to different SC countries represented in the UN. After extensive research on Security Council countries’ policies, students work within their respective committees together to formulate resolutions and reports, the tools that the United Nations use to initiate action that affects the world. Model United Nations is an exciting way for students to learn about the cutting edge issues in international affairs and increases their awareness of different systems of government, international law, and international organizations while gaining valuable researching, public speaking, and decision-making skills. The nation’s capital as the location of the simulation gives the students unparalleled access to United States government officials and the embassies of the foreign nations represented at the conference.
The Osgood Center will host a one-week training followed by a Model UN Security Council Simulation with Tianjin University students from Tianjin, China. The MUN SC is a simulation designed to prepare college students for national and international collegiate conferences. The simulation is a chance for students to practice speech-making, resolution and report writing as well as debating and negotiating. The Osgood Center will tailor the topics to ensure that students are able to debate and engage in topics that are relevant to the countries assigned to them. All sessions will be conducted in English. For more information, please contact us at gmanukyan@osgoodcenter.org. |
