US, Israel, and the Middle
East The 2012 Program continues an annual educational conference between the Osgood Center and the Interdisciplinary Center in Herzliya, Israel. This program brings Israeli students together with American students to study the policy debates and alternatives regarding the long-standing Middle East process, Iran, Iraq, and Afghanistan/Pakistan. In addition, the program will focus on the implications for the Arab Spring on Israeli security and Israel's position in the region. In 2012, students will share embassy visits, receptions, lectures, and more as they learn about each other's systems, priorities, hopes, and dreams. The Israeli students will also visit lobby groups, Congress, think tanks, and the Department of State. Some of the topics of discussion will include:
This program will feature presentations and discussions from leaders in the US Government, NGOs, IGOs, Foreign Embassies and the corporate world*. Structure of the program Speakers from Washington, D.C.'s leading policy institutions, firms, and businesses. Visits to Congress, the State Department, the World Bank and leading Think Tanks A diverse class from around the world! Housing Housing for the program will be provided by The Carlyle Suites in Washington, DC. Please arrange housing with the Osgood Center to receive tax-free group rates. WAIVER: Each student must provide his or her own medical insurance, and each student is responsible for observing the laws of Washington, D.C. and the rules and procedures of the hotel. Students must sign waivers upon arrival to the Osgood Center. *Each student must submit their security information (full name, passport # or SSN, date and place or birth and citizenship) at least a month in advance to be able to visit US government agencies.
